Custom-built Slipcases for Artist’s Books
Excerpt from MASS MoCA about, Are You Really My Friend?… “In 2011, Maine-based photographer Tanja Alexia Hollander set out to differentiate the actual from the virtual by photographing all 626 of her Facebook friends. Since then, she has traveled across the globe, setting up in-person meetings in her friends’ homes to discover the ways in which friendship is defined, and how permission is granted into one’s private — yet also very public — online life. Through this project, the artist has been able to take the virtual out of friendship.”
Custom-designed Artist Catalogs built by Mullenberg Designs for the Ogunquit Museum of American Art. Each limited edition catalog was built to accompany the exhibition of a celebrated Maine Artist.
Each book was hand-sewn and bound by the bookbinders at Mullenberg Designs. We worked closely with Museum staff to select cover materials to best represent the work of each Artist. The catalogs were printed locally at Edison Press.
Fine Art Photographer Christopher Friese contacted Mullenberg Designs to build a house for his series of photographs documenting Route 66: Rear View 66. Our 2-Piece Clamshell structure was the perfect fit for these Fine Art Prints.

The paste downs in the interior of the box are copies of her Mother’s handwritten recipes.
Photographic Artist Nathan Mandurrago selected a Clamshell style Presentation Box. This structure is perfect for fine art prints. Nathan selected Arrestox White for his cover material. This coated linen material lends a crisp clean finish to Nathan’s portfolio communicating his modern /nature-inspired style.
